Full Moon in Sagittarius: Demonstrating Our Wisdom

The full moon in 23’25 degrees of Sagittarius on June 14th, 2022 (exact at 6:52 a.m. CDT) is a reality check that offers moments of clarity and truth so that we can derive deeper meaning from all the data and embody our wisdom.

This is a moon that is inviting us to embrace more of our divine potential. In order to do that, it will shine a light on the places where we have been in disillusionment and denial. We live in a world that overwhelms us with data and false information while suppressing truth, civil rights, and needed reform. We can get lost in the plethora of information, or we can lean into our intuitive wisdom to discern what is real.

This Full Moon Is Activating Big Energy

The Sagittarius full moon in 2022 is the manifestation of the seeds that were planted at the new moon solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 14th, 2020 and were blooming with the Sagittarius solar eclipse on December 4th, 2021. Looking back to that time, what dreams are now in harvest? What milestones can be celebrated? Where are you asked now to expand your confidence and capabilities to reveal more of your divine nature? Where are you  being asked to grow?

This full moon also happens to be a supermoon. These occur when the moon is either full or new while it is closest to Earth, and as a result, supermoons are more powerful. This supermoon urges us to expand our capacity for empathy, intuition, and inspiration. Over the next two weeks, compassionate communication, empathic listening, and ingenuity will be most beneficial.

Mercury, the planet of communication, is moving direct and at its regular speed. It will reenter the sign of Gemini the day before the full moon, allowing us to get the knowledge we need to move forward. Mercury is reactivating the degree of the total lunar eclipse on the 15th of May and may be bringing some of those same themes forward into this lunation. The past several weeks have offered new information to inform our conscious choice. We are invited to transcend our perceived limitations to open to a new paradigm.

Sagittarius as an Archetype

Sagittarius is the archetype of divine inspiration, exploration, and intuitive knowing. It brings a natural optimism, faith, and hope and sees the bigger vision of what is possible. Sagittarius symbolizes the mythic pursuit for truth, inner and outward journeys, and the study of principles and laws.

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign. Its energy is variable, adaptive, and flexible. This fire sign is associated with inspiration and creativity. It rules the hips, gluteal muscles, and thighs.

Sagittarius offers its vision and ignites the expansion of consciousness through the teacher, storyteller, and the guide. Sagittarius naturally finds fulfillment by conveying universal principles and perspectives to others. It elevates, inspires, and brings hope by sharing its knowledge and living its truth.

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter. Jupiter magnifies where we need to grow and expand into more of our potential. Jupiter plants the seeds that bring new opportunities when we follow our intuitive knowing, step boldly into the unknown, and believe in what is possible.

Sagittarius seeks to understand the deeper meaning of why we are here. It is a very religious sign and can hold tightly to its beliefs about God and the world. The 9th house, where Sagittarius rules and where Sagittarius is found in our chart, speaks to our spiritual path, our faith in a higher power and ultimately ourselves, and what we believe in.

“I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”

The Shadow of Sagittarius

Sagittarius, at its highest expression, teaches us to look beyond facts and acquired information to our own direct life experiences and the wisdom obtained from them.

When we repress this energy within us, we become unquestionably devoted to our belief systems and the narratives we tell ourselves about life, which can cause us to become self-righteous. We become the guardian of truth instead of seeking and exploring the truth to continue to grow. The shadow of Sagittarius is reckless optimism, black and white thinking, and becoming fundamental about our version of truth, while judging those who believe otherwise. True wisdom comes from our direct experience and is felt in the moment. It isn’t something that was once discovered and then obtained. In the shadow form, Sagittarius may hold onto a truth or a belief system and forget to continue to ask the bigger questions and engage in life.

An evolutionary quest of the Sagittarius archetype is to expand beyond polarization, fundamentalism, and the need to convince others of your truth to simply living your truth, integrity and morals in a way that inspires and ignites the spiritual seeker and innerward journey in others.

“A lie doesn’t become truth, right doesn’t become wrong , and evil doesn’t become good just because it’s accepted by a majority.”

Cosmic Weather

Neptune, the planet of illusion, deception, and confusion, is heavily involved with this full moon, creating a veil over the physical universe. Neptune in the sign of Pisces forms a T-square to the Sun and Moon in this full moon chart. Strange feelings or experiences may cause us to question reality. We look at the places where we feel restricted in order to dissolve the resistance that keeps us from our next courageous step toward destiny.

This full moon activates the conjunction of Venus, Pallas Athena and the North Node in the sign of Taurus, expanding our desire for love and authentic connection. We have the opportunity to understand our relationship patterns and take the needed steps to grow. We may feel more empowered to claim our equal place at the table of interdependent, evolving love. We can no longer deny the truth that our heart is speaking to us. We must face what isn’t working and where we have sacrificed parts of ourselves so that we can see what is practically realizable to build toward a more authentic love. We are invited to find solutions that consider the needs of others, affirm our worth, and align to our values.

Mars conjoins Chiron in Aries, the collective archetype of the wounded healer; we are invited to pursue justice through trusting our instincts and stepping into courage to lead.

“The time is always right to do right.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

The full moon in Sagittarius on June 14, 2022, is sextile Saturn in Aquarius. Saturn in this full moon chart asks us to get real about the knowledge that we have and asks if we are truly demonstrating our wisdom. We are invited to put spiritual philosophies into practice and create a discipline that helps us connect and live from our intuitive knowing. Where do we need to mature and grow to support our higher vision? Saturn in Aquarius brings creative approaches and emotional maturity and helps to ground our vision. Saturn reminds us that we are strong enough to persevere through the toughest times, follow our own authority, and build what we set out to achieve. Hope is not a vague and transitory concept. It is real and tangible when we move forward with conviction, confidence, and integrity.

The full moon is aligned with the asteroid Medusa in Sagittarius. Medusa shows us where we are fated to confront fear with truth. It can show us how we can be rebirthed from trauma to magical protector and guardian. This is an important time to practice radical self care, release others’ projections, and tend to our nervous systems.

The Invitation

This full moon invites us to ground our vision and put our knowledge into practice. Where do we need to surrender judgment? Where can we evolve into the freedom and liberation of living from our own spiritual nature and trusting our intuitive wisdom in the moment to guide us to the next step on our journey.

We learn through contrast how to balance optimism and pessimism, information and knowledge. We are invited to keep an open mind and explore deeper meaning in our lives while we continue to question assumptions and lean into our authentic nature. This moon asks us to embrace both/and solutions.  Through our willingness to look at the bottom line and honor our limits, we begin to open more to seeing what is possible.

Speaking the truth is powerful. Being true to yourself and living in your integrity is the foundation of living heaven on earth. Our best teacher is life experience and through our life journey we adapt and learn to let go of beliefs that we have adapted from conditioning and that no longer serve our authentic nature. Through this process we open to the magic of lived experience, embody our divine nature, and allow it to expand our mind and bring needed solutions as healing medicine to our world.

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

Aristotle
