The full moon on Saturday, September 10th at 4:59 a.m. CDT calls us into introspection. It sits at 17°41’ in the creative, empathic sign of Pisces. This full moon activates the emotional realm, our imagination, and innovative spirit.
We have been in the process of dissolving an old identity and integrating our new self. We may be in resistance to this change, grasping on to the old way, or we may find that we are very focused on flowing with the new energy emerging. Collectively, we are opening to more mystical experiences and direct connection with the divine as a cultural norm. It is becoming more acceptable to bring parts of our mystical self into the modern world. How do you feel about your relationship to this process? This full moon builds upon the new moon’s energies in Pisces on March 2nd, 2021. What themes have been emerging in your life since that time?

Pisces as an Archetype
Pisces is a water sign that represents openness, faith, compassion and spiritual insight. It devotes itself wholeheartedly to esoteric ideals, selfless service and mystical experience. Pisces is associated with spirituality and transcendence. It recognizes the interconnectedness of all living things and the humanity in each individual.
“The desire for connection with the Divine and our formless inner self is at the foundation of all desire for human connection.”
Donna Goddard
Pisces’ symbol is two fish swimming in opposite directions, symbolizing the sign’s duality. One fish swims in the lower world of the collective unconscious, while the other swims in the upper world of individualized human emotion. The two fish also represent our dual existence as earthly and spiritual beings. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. The Pisces archetype flows between both worlds.
Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac and thus completes an evolutionary journey from birth to full individuation. Now in this last phase of the zodiac cycle, we transcend the personal ego experience and open to a new understanding of our divine connection to all of consciousness. We understand that we are all one and recognize the divine presence in all life. This opens us to a new level of compassion, empathy, and evolutionary love. This time represents the mystical moment of attaining enlightenment.

The Shadow of Pisces
Pisces’ shadow side is a lack of boundaries, becoming lost in illusions, fantasies, and various forms of escapism. There can be confusion between what is real and what is illusionary. Being a sensitive empathic soul, they are prone to addiction and apathy to avoid the depth of their feelings. Their heightened sensitivity allows them to absorb collective energy quickly. As a result, they are easily overwhelmed by the weight of the world. Pisces energy can struggle to separate their sense of self from what they feel from the collective. It can be hard to understand and distinguish what feelings are theirs and what they absorb as a psychic sponge. They can identify with things that they are picking up from other people that are not theirs. To work with this porus psychic nature, it is essential for empaths to practice a presence process to feel, transmute, release and dissipate energies rather than absorb them. They often learn to be the emotional processor for the family system through caretaking, co-dependence or being scapegoated. Because of this, they may mistakenly believe that it is their job to manage the emotional baggage of the people in their lives. It isn’t their role or purpose. Learning to let go of false identities and patterns of managing that which doesn’t belong to you will free up your energy so you can align with your soul’s intent. It is vital to learn what the difference feels like in your body and practice discernment. Psychic hygiene and boundary development are essential tools that can help guide this empathic soul into the more suitable environments for their compassionate heart and service work.
Pisces can sometimes struggle with bringing their vivid imagination, powerful feelings and ideas into physical form. Their dream life is just as real as their day in the real world. They can hold much of what they are feeling and sensing within and then feel the pain of being misunderstood. They reclaim their power when they find adequate alone time and draw on, and develop, their powerful mystical side.
Pisces energy needs to find a deeper spiritual meaning to motivate and guide them on their path. Without this they may easily become a lost follower in the crowd and take the path of least resistance until they discover a cause worth taking a stand for. Then they can consciously unplug from the collective current and move against the grain.
The Pisces / Virgo Polarity
The systematic Virgo sun and empathetic Pisces moon are urging us to honor our genuine needs and take time to fill our own cup. This polarity requires a balance between our logic and our intuition. This lunation activates more compassionate understanding and empathy that can amplify a heartfelt connection. When working in harmony, Virgo can create the systems and structure to support the Piscean creative flow. Virgo energy creates and integrates the holistic medicine for our collective healing, while Pisces believes in what is possible.

This Full Moon Is a Rebirth
An important theme in this lunation is the energy of the Law of Creation, which states that something must die for something to be born. We are bringing mystical awareness to conscious endings. We turn the soil. What we release becomes the compost for new fertile growth. We have reached a cycle of completion in the Pisces area of our lives. We are asked to release old energy that no longer serves us. This may be a shift in relationships, environments or old patterns. To best align with this energy, we get clear on what isn’t working or what isn’t meant for this next chapter and we let go of it. Through the process of feeling and surrender we create space for what is new.
“We would much rather be undefined than ordained in traditions that don’t fit our curves.”
Mirabai Starr
This lunation activates a powerful portal to a higher level of consciousness. But first, we must address our shadows, disillusionments and disappointments. Our emotions come into full illumination to inform us of what is real. We can allow it to inspire and inform our creativity. The way we work has undergone a radical transformation over the past several months. In this phase, we slow down to feel nature, to connect to our breath and to get inspired by the creative process unfolding in every moment. Practice going within and listening. Trust the new intuitive feeling that is emerging and the creative voice guiding it. How can we offer ritual, prayer and art as a pathway to our healing? This is an important time to trust divine timing and the intuitive feeling guiding our next steps.

Cosmic Weather
Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, Vesta, Juno, and Pluto are all retrograde during this full moon. This signifies an immense need for inner processing, reflection, and internal alignment with cosmic forces. It is a pivotal moment that requires reevaluation, restructuring, and letting go of old ways of doing things. We need space to go within in order to access our intuitive wisdom and hear our next steps. Mercury enters its official retrograde zone six hours before the full moon is exact. Life will speak to us through synchronicity and show us where we need to surrender and go within.
With the Sun and Venus in Virgo and Mars in the sign of Gemini there is a lot of energy animated in our mind. We are invited to let go of the ways we overthink and want to understand all the details of the known world, so we can embrace the mystery and trust in our unfolding path. This requires surrender and a healthy connection between our mind and heart. We can lead with our hearts and spread ideas that we are excited about and foster more soulful relationships. When we use our intuitive senses, we align to the environments and communities that we trust to hold space as we integrate our ideas.
This lunation aligns Uranus (which is retrograde in Taurus) and the moon’s Nodes of Destiny journeying along the Taurus-Scorpio axis. This means we have a unique opportunity to bring our innovative spirit to restructure our relationship to our physical reality, our bodies and the earth. We can think outside the box, awaken to new ideas, and offer creative solutions that support our shift into higher vibrational states and affirm our self worth.
This full moon is aligned with Neptune. Neptune’s orbit is unusually long; it takes 165 years to complete the entire cycle of the zodiac, and journeys 14 years through each of the 12 signs. Neptune entered the sign of Pisces in 2011 and will remain there until 2026. Having Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces, in its home sign and aligned with the full moon in the sign of Pisces amplifies this archetypal energy. Neptune is the psychic planet of ideals, intuition, spirituality, and compassion. Neptune energy connects us to our relationship to disillusionment. The ways in which we have been unwilling to face reality directly will be brought up to the surface during this time. Awakening to this felt truth may increase our pain and disappointment. This is a purposeful process that helps us realign. Often significant expansion, growth and success come after periods of disappointment. Through making the space to feel what is true for us, we are guided to make conscious choices and endings.
“All human unhappiness comes from not facing reality squarely,
Buddha
exactly as it is.”
Neptune is also associated with belief in what is possible and belief in an infinite intelligence that supports and guides our path. Without boundaries or limitations, Neptune allows us to feel a part of something greater than ourselves. In Pisces, we find existence and connect to our faith. There is a beautiful intelligence to this full moon cycle that can hold sacred space for the most profound heartbreak, even as we trust the cycles and know that the light always returns after the darkest period of night. Pisces is the sign that can visualize the divine light emerging after the darkest storm and can hold that image of light for others who are suffering. Our imaginative abilities are intensified during this time, and we can easily connect to the new beginning that is emerging.
This full moon is conjunct with the asteroid Juno. Juno teaches us about loyalty and how we can reclaim our power and sovereignty by being loyal to ourselves first and foremost. Juno’s presence in this full moon chart invites us to call our energy back to the places where we have given our power away to people and it wasn’t reciprocated. This may also be associated with ancestral healing. We are asked to let go of the guilt around putting ourselves first or believing we need to attain a specific status or a specific person to rise up and become the Queen we were born to be. We release our shadow loyalties so that we can further our spiritual development and honor our soul’s mission.

A Time for Radical Acceptance
This full moon is shining a light on emotions that have been simmering under the surface—internal conflict results from resisting reality. Our emotional body works like an intuitive compass, and when we suppress what we feel, we can create confusion and block our connection to inner guidance. We can begin a healing process by giving presence and acknowledgement to our feelings. Accepting unpleasant events can enable us to shift away from pain and sorrow and allow in more peace. This is a time to look at our relationship to suffering. We can surrender our resistance and need to make things happen and release our attachments.
Radical acceptance includes making a commitment to recognize and honor difficult situations and feelings. Instead of ignoring, avoiding, or yearning for the situation to be different, we fully embrace things as they are. We don’t have to like it or approve of what has happened, but we practice accepting what is. This practice allows us to move through our emotions and discover deeper meaning in our life experiences. With the full moon’s alignment to Uranus in Taurus and the North Node in Taurus there is extraordinary potential for divine downloads. These sudden shifts awaken healing potential and serve as catalysts for transformation and alignment to our destiny. Uranus is about liberation; the more we can come into acceptance, the more we open to ultimate freedom.
“Clearly recognizing what is happening inside us, and regarding what we see with an open, kind and loving heart, is what I call Radical Acceptance. If we are holding back from any part of our experience, if our heart shuts out any part of who we are and what we feel, we are fueling the fears and feelings of separation that sustain the trance of unworthiness. Radical Acceptance directly dismantles the very foundations of this trance.”
Tara Brach, Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life With the Heart of a Buddha

The Invitation
This full moon encourages us to nurture a healthy connection with the energetic world. We are invited inward for a deeper understanding of what we need to let go of in order to align with the force of destiny. We practice radical acceptance, forgiveness and compassion to make space for new, future growth. This includes honoring where others are and holding compassion and reverence for their unique soul’s growth and experience without needing to know all the details. We trust that a divine intelligence guides them to the next step of their journey and we direct our focus to our mystical development so we can connect to our divine intelligence. We have an opportunity to more wholeheartedly trust our inner processes while also inviting a higher divine intelligence to guide us into right relationship with our values, the Earth and our soul mission.
Thank you Stacy for this incredibly rich and profoud post. It‘s what I needed.
