New Moon in Sagittarius: New Horizons

The new moon in 20°40’ of Sagittarius on December 12 (5:32 p.m. CST) guides us into our next level of spiritual expansion and invites us to answer the call of adventure. We attune to what is possible, bringing renewed hope and the freedom to follow our inspiration.

Profound insight is gained when we view our life experiences as instructive, shaping who we are and serving our development.

This is the last new moon of the calendar year, inviting us to explore new dreams and new areas to explore ahead.

“When we are willing to risk venturing into the wilderness and even becoming our own wilderness, we feel the deepest connection to our true self and to what matters the most.”

Brené Brown

This new moon energy plants seeds for expansion over the next 18 months.

The intentions we set now will come to fruition around the full moon in Sagittarius on June 11, 2025.

How will we show up to our lives to fan the flame for our sacred work? What must we release to serve our growth? We tune into how the stories we tell ourselves have hindered our authentic expression. We can now rededicate ourselves to a practice that tends to our inner fire and honors the divine within.

Life beckons us to new experiences and a new understanding of how we can share our light with the world. What within you is longing to spark new life?

Mercury Enters Retrograde

This is a critical time to slow down, listen and examine our beliefs. We reflect on the messages we receive from our families, culture and the environment and how these messages can imprint and influence our values. Only some of what we have chosen to believe is aligned with our truth. We have absorbed thoughts and beliefs from the environment that were never our truth, to begin with, and some ideas we have outgrown as we have continued to expand our awareness beyond old versions of ourselves and step into different paradigms.

This lunation offers insight into the limited ways our minds can operate that have kept us stuck in a loop, blocking us from reaching the next level of our potential.

True freedom lies in liberating our minds and reclaiming our agency toward where we wish to direct our thinking. We can bring our energy and light to what is possible and now see what is good in a situation, even if it has been challenging. This is a critical time to think about what we wish to birth and integrate what we have learned over our lifetime, taking our power back from distractions.

Jupiter in Taurus trines Mercury in Capricorn from December 7th-21st. During this Mercury retrograde cycle, we are called to connect to our bigger spiritual vision, hold space for the perspectives of others and create a plan of action for long-term growth. This aspect supports us in aligning our passions with what is sustainable. We may also see where we have settled; we must begin to ground our vision and determine what we can share with our soul gifts.

The Archetype of Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the eternal optimist, the judge, the seeker and the explorer. Through this archetype, we ask bigger questions about our life: what is moral and just, and what is the higher purpose for why we are here? In Sagittarius, we integrate new levels of conscious awareness and better understand how our life experiences teach us important lessons.

The shadow side of Sagittarius manifests as fundamentalism, where we become attached to our version of the truth being right and not allowing space for other points of view. Insecurity triggers the need to convince others our ideas and opinions are correct so that we feel more secure. This often lacks compassion and respect for other people’s unique spiritual paths. We can hold onto outdated principles and become arrogant, thinking we already have things figured out, upholding an incomplete reality and blocking our growth.

In its highest expression, Sagittarius can perceive situations through symbolic thinking, uncovering meaning and truth through their life experiences. They learn to get out of their own way, embracing inspiration and trusting their intuition to navigate the unknown.

“The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth.”

Ram Dass

We Examine Our Beliefs

This cosmic weather guides us to move beyond our limitations through the threshold of who we are becoming, opening unique aspects of ourselves and breaking new ground. We face old elements of conditioning and reflect on old narratives to release them and connect them to our authentic values.

Our faith in what is possible is restored. We trust in our ability to navigate and be guided by our intuitive wisdom. This energy drives us forward to honor our vision and holds the assurance of the divine to show us the details.

We Hold Space for Multiple Truths

This cycle presents an opportunity to hold space for different aspects of ourselves. On the one hand, we may feel a rekindled enthusiasm guiding us toward possibility, while another part of ourselves craves stability and wants to root down into what feels secure. We yearn to make a change but may also feel restless, impatient and uncomfortable when our security is threatened.

This energy can jolt us out of where we have been stagnant so that we see outside of our patterns and begin to liberate ourselves from our conditioned ways of being. We may feel a friction between our need for freedom and our sense of responsibility. This new moon is a call to adventure that requires us to summon the courage to step into the unknown. Courage is cultivated by our willingness to feel what is true, acknowledging fear may be arising but choosing not to let it rule our decisions.

By listening to our body’s wisdom, we can begin to transmute our tension and be open to what needs to shift internally to prepare us to expand.

“The purpose of our lives is to give birth to the best that is in us. It is only through our own personal awakening that the world can be awakened. We cannot give what we do not have.”

Marianne Williamson

Healing comes in our ability to acknowledge the many parts of ourselves and make space for all our archetypes to be seated at the table. By honoring a higher mystical truth, we can practice both/and consciousness, allowing ourselves to strategize and ground our vision and what is within us into something solid.

There may be a sense of a long-held dream or an opportunity we thought was long gone that surfaces again. Enrolling in what is energetically aligned with our current growth is crucial.

“What you seek is seeking you.”

Rumi

The Invitation

Improved insight directs our focus and ignites different pathways of potential. We are invited to look at our lives through symbolic eyes and lean into the excitement of new beginnings. We now have the capability to channel more hope and inspiration into our lives.

Our guiding light is our connection to the bigger picture of this world and our evolving understanding of our place in it. We become more aware of what needs to change and can take steps toward what truly inspires us. This lunation is an invitation to expand beyond our current belief system and lay the groundwork for spiritual growth. We align with the force of destiny.
