Scorpio Full Moon: Radical Acceptance

The full moon in 4°18’ of Scorpio on Tuesday, April 23rd (6:48 p.m. CDT) meets us at the threshold of profound transformation and in the places where we feel our greatest resistance to change.

Only by exploring our fears and investigating where we have not been truly valuing ourselves can we create more abundance and authentic relationships in our lives.

This cycle invites us to delve inward and address areas we might be avoiding so that we can come to a fresh understanding of ourselves, our relationships and life itself.

This full moon corresponds to the solar eclipse in Scorpio on October 25th, 2022. These past 18 months have revealed old, unconscious patterns hidden in our psyche. We now complete this cycle and push toward an uncomfortable truth that we have been resisting or fighting against. This cycle guides us toward new territory, and we must face what we have outgrown.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

James Baldwin

The Scorpio/Taurus Polarity

Taurus represents our relationship to security, the physical realm, and our comfort with what is known. Scorpio connects us to the unconscious and transformation through the intense experience of emotional surrender. This polarity explores our attachments to our most profound emotional connections or our fears surrounding how we will be resourced. We are asked to let go of toxic patterns, relationships, and ways of being that no longer serve our soul growth.

This cycle brings waves that shock and destabilize our current relationship to security. On our soul’s growth path, change is inevitable when we meet points of death and rebirth. We acutely feel the strain of where we have been living outside our authentic values. This stress leads us toward making decisions or moves us in new directions.

We sense something is shifting, but the way forward is unclear. We are invited to surrender so that we might connect to more profound meaning and motivation for our lives.

“Rebirth always follows death.”

Neil Gaiman

This Cycle Calls for Deeper Trust

This cosmic weather asks us to trust how our lives are unfolding, and that whatever is arising is serving our empowerment, even if we don’t see it yet. There may be overwhelm and confusion. It may feel like what matters most is moving away from us. However, what is being released is unnecessary in our next cycle of growth.

This energy brings strong endings, closure and death (literal or metaphorical). For something to be born, something must die. Something is being asked to be freed so that it can shift into another form. We may have a premonition about something in the future, but the steps to get there have yet to be discovered.

In this cycle, we are primed to meet a moment of metamorphosis to guide us into the required stages of our soul growth: surrender, forgiveness and self-compassion.

By connecting to a more expanded view of our lives, we can more easily recognize new forms of freedom and liberation on the path forward. This can allow us to deepen our trust in our unfolding journey and help us to lean into the present moment with vigor and excitement about what is truly possible.

“For each of us, there comes a time when we must awaken and become what we were born to become.”

Seth Adam Smith

Working with Emotions

Our emotions are our intuitive compass and are an integral aspect of ourselves, yet most of us are not taught how to work with them consciously. Often, we avoid or are numb to our feelings in order to protect ourselves from experiencing them fully. When we feel intensely, it can seem like being within a tsunami—completely overwhelming. In Western culture, we are so out of harmony with our emotional system that we end up repressing how we feel, and when we do encounter our feelings, we tend to meet them at extremes. Our energy can become addicted to our emotions, and we can struggle to see outside the beliefs and stories that underpin our emotional terrain. We may feel intense pressure and stress from within and project it into the world. We may lose our sense of what is happening in the here and now, and how our emotions may be coloring the story. This is a necessary time to pay close attention to both what we and others are projecting before jumping to conclusions. We can learn to make space with what we feel to understand more clearly what we are and what we need.

The highest expression of Scorpio is emotional mastery, where we understand we have conscious choices in how we respond to life. We can choose which engagements are truly worth our energy, and we learn to stay connected to ourselves.

There is a fine line between giving in to emotions vs. acknowledging and allowing them to inform us. This cycle brings up the vulnerability of connecting to our emotionally-based nature. Upheaval, reactivity and deeply unconscious patterns are surfacing so that we can make space for all parts of ourselves. As this is a Scorpio moon, we also face some darker elements that we don’t often like to acknowledge, such as envy, jealousy, revenge, and resentment. We must learn to make space to be present with what is arising and to feel and be with it, allowing whatever comes up to flow through us. We have a profound opportunity now to come into acceptance and unconditional regard for our whole selves.

“In order to rise

From its own ashes

A phoenix

First

Must

Burn.”

Octavia Butler

The Invitation

This lunation requires a deep, penetrating examination into what we have overlooked. We may feel that things aren’t quite what they seem or have a psychic hunch that someone isn’t being honest. This cycle reveals secrets, hidden assets and manipulation, allowing us to scrutinize our lives and see things for what they are. It is important now to trust our intuition rather than the logical mind.

We are being beckoned to begin a new story, and as we step forward into new directions of soul growth, we are letting go of old roles and relationships. Now is not the time to be caught up in the details of what may be right or wrong in these roles and relationships. There is a gift in how it is unfolding, even if we don’t understand all the aspects yet. How can we bring consciousness and compassion to what is ending in a way that honors the cycle of growth that we are completing?

This cycle acts as a catalyst, propelling us through emotional trenches to unearth what we are destined to reclaim. It grants us the gift of clarity, helping us discern what we want to carry forward, what no longer resonates and what is ready to depart. We take the necessary step of confronting emotional upheaval so that we might see our life as it truly is and to release fully, enabling us to step boldly forward. The changes we are embarking on are leading us toward a brighter, more fulfilling future.
