The full moon in 1°07′ of Capricorn on Friday, June 21st (8:08 p.m. CDT) beckons us to liberate ourselves from the structures and roles that no longer serve us in order to access new levels of freedom and possibility.
The past few weeks have led us to dismantle old forms. We are encouraged to release the need for control and have faith that what is being stripped away is necessary. This is a crucial time for balancing our emotional needs with our ability to connect with others. It’s also a time to see more clearly where we stand and where we need to build stronger foundations. We also need to find new ways of working. If we do this, we’ll be able to achieve different results, which will, in turn, foster personal growth and transformation.
We are summoned to lead from our integrity and inner authority, making deliberate steps to take responsibility for what is ours and move forward with confidence and self-assurance.
This is the first of two full moons working with the Capricorn / Cancer polarity. The second one will take place at 29º of Capricorn on July 21st.
With two consecutive Capricorn full moons, we are currently engaged in a process that is elevating a new and distinct spiritual energy, permanently shifting our consciousness and the direction of our lives.
Restriction calls us inward to accept what simply isn’t working anymore so that we can truly let go. Contrast and compression guide us to feel what we may be avoiding.
All that is arising is happening for us, not to us. The more we are open to looking at our life as our soul may perceive it, the more we cultivate new strength and power and the ability to be receptive to the guidance, support, and healing we need. That which constricts us is also our path to freedom. And through this process, we become clear about what matters, open to new insights, and reclaim our sovereignty.
This full moon corresponds to the Capricorn new moon on December 23rd, 2022. These past 18 months, we have been learning about the power of surrender. We are called to accept what is and look at the bottom-line reality while simultaneously opening to the bigger picture of where destiny guides us.
“Just let go. Let go of how you thought your life should be, and embrace the life that is trying to work its way into your consciousness.”
Caroline Myss
Through this destruction of old roles and structures, we learn what it feels like to release, relinquish control, and allow the divine to wash away deep-rooted attachments and desires.
This will allow us to increase our confidence and believe in our capabilities to take the leap that is required for the next chapter of our soul’s growth.
Redefining Success
Capricorn, in its highest expression, fuels our sacred ambition. We can see our lives from a higher perspective and consider what we long to authentically build from where we are now. We implement changes practically and responsibly. We believe in the process and the next steps of our journey.
This lunation is a critical time to rethink what success truly means for us. We can create the space to listen and experience our embodied feelings. If something isn’t working for us, we’ll feel resistance. This is meant to inform and clarify what doesn’t fit, what we want, and help us come to a new understanding of success that is guided by our inner authority, independent of cultural expectations and any desire to prove oneself for external validation.
“Some people work hard, day and night, in the field of helping others, but their strongest motivation is to stay busy so they can avoid feeling their own pain.”
Pema Chödrön
The Capricorn/Cancer Polarity
Cancer teaches us to develop our emotional intelligence, while Capricorn motivates us to achieve self-actualization. The more we abandon our feelings and needs, the more likely we are to violate others’ rights and have a negative impact on society. This full moon asks that we cultivate the courage to be present with our emotions so that we may address what isn’t working in our lives and rebuild toward what is truer to ourselves. We can learn to stay with what we are authentically feeling and allow that to inform us. We can learn to respect our own needs and limitations while focusing on our long-term objectives. We do not have to sacrifice one for the other.
“Emotional maturity involves the ability to be self-aware of one’s emotions and be able to filter them before acting on them. Whether you are relatively unemotional or life feels like a constant, erratic roller-coaster, emotional maturity involves being able to respond wisely in each moment while staying true to yourself.”
Charlotte Maloney
This full moon provides an opportunity to reflect on what home means. What does it feel like to be at home in our bodies? What exactly does it mean to be at home in our current lives? What does it mean to feel at home with our soul family—the family we discover and define? Only by shedding layers of the past can we fully engage with the present. To feel more at home with ourselves, we must be able to shed what came before, especially any guilt or shame.
When we learn to be accountable in the present moment, we can let go of the ways in which our past rules us. Now is the time to release any self-imposed restrictions in order to align with what our destinies have in store.
This Lunation Supports Ancestral Healing
This full moon illuminates the ending of karmic contracts. As our values have evolved, we are tuning into what resonates for our lives now. We come into acceptance and learn the power of detaching from outmoded forms and ways of being when we understand that what we think we need or long to hold onto has now come to completion. This may be in our relationships or finances or how we seek to live in new ways. We possess a new awareness around our motivations that built the old structures that didn’t align with our values and how we authentically desire to be in the world. We bring profound awareness of what we are ready to move forward and alchemize from our family line.
This lunation calls us to heal the patterns and oaths that we have inherited from our predecessors. The work may involve going deep into our ancestral karma and transmuting and foraging new pathways.
These ancestral patterns help us to witness our transgenerational wounds and provide the medicine we need to heal.
“Our Ancestors knew that healing comes in cycles and circles. One generation carries the pain so that the next can live and heal. One cannot live without the other, each is the other’s hope, meaning & strength.”
Gemma B. Benton
As we delve into what has burdened us and weighed us down, we unlock new states of consciousness. This process of understanding and releasing our burdens can lead to profound enlightenment, allowing us to transcend our past and embrace a new, lighter way of being.
We Stand in the Doorway Between Worlds
This lunation occurs after the solstice, a time when the veil is thinning between the physical and energetic world. We are called inward to deeply listen to our intuitive knowing and any messages from the non-physical realm. We need time and space to process and feel our tenderness and grief as we acknowledge what is over, knowing there is no going back to the forms we were used to. We may feel a push to get into the new beginning and claim the new job, relationship or community that we feel ready for. But this full moon requires us to slow down and be intentional and considerate. Its medicine is in the surrender to the in-between place where we may find ourselves now.
It’s necessary to sit with the discomfort of realizing that our life has not entirely played out as we thought it would. We need to feel everything that is connected to our reality so we can listen to our divine guidance as it works in preparing the new way.
With five planets in water signs and Saturn preparing to retrograde on June 29th, we find ourselves more reflective and willing to listen. Our maturity and responsibility come from our ability to navigate and be with our emotions. There is a washing away of the old and an acknowledgment of how much we have grown and evolved over the past 18 months.
As we step into this new role, we may discover how quickly we can detach, heal, and create new structures that are aligned with our soul work.
We shed our need to seek external validation, allowing ourselves to be guided by our inner compass and to show up for what truly animates our hearts.
“Surrender is the simple but profound wisdom of yielding to rather than opposing the flow of life. The only place where you can experience the flow of life is the Now, so to surrender is to accept the present moment unconditionally and without reservation.”
Eckhart Tolle
The Invitation
This full moon meets us at a transition point. We are both grieving for where we cannot return and feeling the excitement and possibility of where divine destiny is leading us.
This lunation gifts us with reflective energy, allowing us to make space for stillness and tune into what we need to know to traverse this ending with consideration, awareness and care.
Now, more than ever, we are called to communicate our needs and actively seek the support required to cope with what has concluded in our lives. When we understand that grace works through people and the universe is working through us, the heavy load that we have been carrying lightens quickly.
