Active Dreaming
The art of discovering the wisdom of dreams and translating their guidance into the waking world.
What is Active Dreaming?
The practice of Active Dreaming catalyzes lucidity and awareness, both in sleep and in the waking world. As a form of exploration and interaction, Active Dreaming takes us beyond just decoding the dreams we have while asleep. Active dreaming is founded on the belief that we don’t have to be asleep to dream. It encourages the application of ancient and modern techniques to understand our waking and sleeping dreams and decipher how they can inform daily life. Active Dreaming guides us into conversation with dream wisdom and teaches us how to embody the energy offered for self-healing and growth. Dreaming actively gives us the opportunity to see ourselves as we truly are.
“Active Dreaming is a way of being fully of this world while maintaining constant contact with another world, the world-behind-the-world, where the deeper logic and purpose of our lives are to be found.”
Robert Moss,
Creator of Active Dreaming
Core Principles of Active Dreaming:
- Active Dreaming is a form of communication with the dreamworld and helps us bring dream wisdom into everyday life. It is a space to call back our voices, to grow as storytellers and receive feedback on our journeys.
- Active Dreaming is shamanic form of lucid dreaming. It can be applied individually and collectively.
- Active dreaming is a practice of living consciously in the world. We dream best when we honor our power to name, when we define our life, and when we follow the natural flow of our energies.
Active Dreaming Sessions
An Active Dreaming session guides you into the heart of your dreams and helps you consciously activate the medicine and frequencies contained within them. The symbols, images and impressions from your dreams are signposts, as are the coincidences and synchronicities that occur in waking life. Active dreaming can involve requesting guidance on a topic or situation then pay attention to your dreams to discover their offerings. As an active dreamer, you learn to journey outside of time and consciously adventure in the dream world, engage the initiations waiting for you and interact with the guides and teachers who reside there.
“Active Dreaming is a discipline, as is yoga or archeology or particle physics.”
Robert Moss
Core techniques of Active Dreaming include:
- The “lightning dreamwork” process
- Dream reentry
- Tracking and group dreaming
- Navigating by synchronicity.
Active Dreaming was created by Robert Moss, a dream teacher and author. To create the Active Dreaming practice, Moss blended dreamwork and shamanic methods of journeying and healing.
