Leo New Moon: Heart Alchemy

The new moon in 2°8′ of Leo on July 24th, 2024 (exact at 2:11 p.m. CDT) prompts us to rekindle our inner spark.

We are being called back into our heart center to reconnect to our passion and move with inspiration.

This lunation provides an incredible opportunity for reflection and re-alignment with our true purpose.

We explore an evolutionary tension that guides us into the unconscious parts of ourselves so that we can transform, open to new insights, and align with new codes that move us through new thresholds of ourselves. We must face our shadow aspects to embody our most courageous self, and ask who we were prior to internalizing societal programming.

“You playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightening about shrinking so others won’t feel insecure around you. As you let your own light shine, you indirectly give others permission to do the same.”

Marianne Williamson

This new moon marks the beginning of an 18-month cycle that will last until January 22nd, 2027, when the full moon will be at 2°14′ Leo. We are invited to sense what we are meant to create and courageously develop more fully within ourselves to embody our sovereignty. In some area of our lives the fire has run out, but we are now able to hear more clearly what is sparking within us. We are preparing for significant changes that are ignited through our own inner transformation.

It is important to take our time, observe our behavior, and notice what is no longer aligned. We are also connecting with desire and vision and are able to discern what creative ideas long to be expressed through us.

Leo as an Archetype

Leo represents our passion, playfulness, and courage. We engage in play and discovery through our willingness to meet life as a creative experiment. We uncover our creative gifts through this process and desire to be witnessed and to share this with others. When we are open to what is possible, we access creative inspiration

Through this archetype, we discover what it means to discover our own creative signature and what it means to be creative. Leo represents both our creative light and our uniqueness.

“Your work is to discover who you are and then with all your heart give your light to the world.”

Jennifer Williamson

Leos are champions of other people’s unique potential and offer their support of others as they discover their gifts and express them. They awaken others’ divine sparks by embodying their own authenticity and radiance. Leos are also powerful storytellers. Heartfelt sharing provides great healing because we feel held, heard, and seen.

We are challenged with remaining true to ourselves and continuing to share genuinely regardless of how life responds.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

The shadow of Leo is when we dim down others who are shining because we cannot access our own creativity in a healthy way. We prepare for performances rather than authentically sharing. We may create drama or become fixated on needing to be seen in certain ways. Other shadow expressions of this archetype are excessive pride, attention seeking, and jealousy.

This new moon invites us to come back to what brings us joy and delight. Leo represents the Eternal Child archetype. Our Eternal Child is the part of the self that exists before cultural conditioning and programing. It is the part of self that has direct communion with our soul. When we are connected to this part of ourselves, we can look at life with awe and experience the wonder of the world. We are invited to shed old ideas and be willing to see aspects of divine love that is all around us, whether it is finding magic in sunsets, a path of service, or genuine experiences.

Expanding Our Capacity for Love

We are currently experiencing much uncertainty, polarization, and civil unrest. Collectively, we are moving into different frequencies and dimensions that are weaving new worlds anchored in the heart. We are no longer satisfied with outdated versions of leadership. Heart-centered leaders are now being called forth to create and stabilize this collective trajectory shift.

We also recognize our own capacity to serve our community and rise up to share our gifts. We are the ones we have been waiting for.

The heart is a chamber of alchemy. It connects to the pulse of life. We must stop and listen to how we can share our gifts with the world.

This lunation marks an access point through which a new version of ourselves is emerging. We are asked to be brave and break out of this stagnation to embrace fresh inspiration.

We shed what is superficial so we can sincerely engage in life through our hearts. And when we let go of old roles and preconceived ways of being seen, we can better align with our soul’s need for love and authentic expression.

We are coming to a deeper understanding of our power and how to work with it. How will we show up to meet each moment of our lives? It is the choices that we make from a healthy ego that will guide us into a healthy sense of self-love.

The Invitation

We are reaching a check-in point and will have the opportunity to consider how we are embracing transformation. This is also a time where we are secured into our center, which is helping us to respond to others and to world events with more conscious awareness. This new moon awakens our hearts in ways that might feel inconvenient but will ultimately really support our growth. How we interact with our community is essential at this time. The stereotypical description of Leo energy is being the life of the party and very social. But people often mistake socializing for community. A community is made up of people who feel connected and come together to build relationship around a shared interest. Within true community, there is dedication and care.

This cycle asks that we lead from our hearts. Who are the people in your life who guide you to your heart’s center? What groups are anchored in their hearts? Where can we shed the superficial and meet others with our warmth and presence?

We recognize our own shadow so that we can radiate our light, bringing our conscious awareness to the patterns and energies that are blocking it. We begin to gradually step away from what feels inauthentic.

There may be heightened invitations for power struggles and drama, but we get to decide what we want to participate in. This is all part of embodying our sovereignty, and we trust the voice of our heart to guide us forward.

“The darkness around us might somewhat light up if we would first practice using the light we have in the place we are.”

Henry S. Haskins
