Full Moon in Aquarius: Radical Change

On August 11th, at 8:36 p.m. CDT, the full moon becomes exact at 19° in Aquarius. This full moon marks a time of radical change and stepping into a new understanding of our power.

This is the last supermoon of 2022. As supermoons are closer in proximity to the earth, there will be an increase in the intensity of the emotional energy and a heightening of our awareness of its lunar power. This lunation is especially potent as it is conjunct Saturn but also because it is part of Fixed Grand Cross squaring Uranus and the Nodal Axis. This full moon illuminates our emotions, desires, and resistance to change and calls for us to have the courage to step toward the unknown so that we can grow and live more from our authenticity.

“What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we have.”

Oprah Winfrey

This full moon amplifies the themes that were surrounding the Aquarian new moon on January 31st, 2022. We are invited to look deep into the places where we give our authority over to another person, group, culture, or our own conditioned internal beliefs. We live in a society that is governed by rules, systems, and structures that help us to function together as a community. Within that framework we also have adapted beliefs around what is acceptable, successful, right and wrong. Not all that is culturally accepted is in alignment with the higher good and/or our truth. This full moon is a call into a new understanding of your truth and your power so that you can live it and speak it from your own authority in service to the collective.

Initiating a New Paradigm

We are downloading new software for a new paradigm. This lunar cycle activates powerful acceleration into new growth. We feel the call for a new beginning. There is tension between the old part of you and the new you that is emerging, the part of you that wants stability and the part of you that desires freedom. Our frustration pushes us to the edges where we find our most creative solutions. Where we feel the most resistance is where we are gearing up for a breakthrough.

This full moon is a shedding of our old programming. Things that have been oppressed, toxic, and stuck in the old paradigm are being shed in this full moon cycle. We liberate ourselves from ways in which we still hold to fixed ideas and cultural beliefs that are not our true nature. Divine downloads, unexpected twists, and shifts in perspective serve as a reality check of where we are and are not being authentic, creative, and open to change. We are asked to rise above the elitism, polarization, and cultural values that are not aligned. This is a call for a revolution of societal change and/or inner liberation. We feel called toward freedom, and to move forward authentically we must shed what no longer serves us.

Aquarius as an Archetype

Aquarius is the energy of innovation, social action, revolution, and individuality. It is associated with the intelligence of creation. The Aquarian is the archetype of the reformer and one who seeks to illuminate society with new and creative visions that support humanity. It has the ability to intuitively perceive future trends and innovative ideas that support  the evolutionary needs of the culture. They often push into the boundaries of the current structure and break barriers to offer creative solutions that seem ahead of their time. Aquarius is frequently used as a catalyst to spark transformation and freedom in areas where we have gotten rigid or comfortable. Their vision and inspiration are meant to expand human consciousness and awareness.

The shadow of Aquarius is dissociation, aloofness, and apathy. They can suppress past memories and stay in the mental plane. They must learn to balance the connection between the mind and the heart. Another shadow trait of Aquarius is elitism. As humanity evolves, so does the desire to control and have power over innovation. We can be so sure that our way is right or so evolved that we only wish to spend time with those who are as evolved as we are so we can stay on our higher consciousness island. As a light bearer we are called to serve and bring our light into the dark. We are meant to collaborate and build community. That community can be created from similar values but must make space for our differences and our uniqueness as well. We can’t bring about societal and global change in our superior bubbles. The elitist can disconnect from those they are called to serve and lose the ability to connect from the heart to the greater human collective.

Understanding Our Power

This lunation offers the wisdom to know where we don’t have our power, our ability becomes limited. We may feel the restriction more intensely so that we have greater awareness of our current reality and where we are called to break through the barriers. We discover new truths about ourselves and our world. It is through making space to bravely listen that we discover the optimal way to exercise our agency. We start to understand more of how we really are. We have the power to raise consciousness. We can use our power to lift others. When we deeply listen, what feels most alive? Where are we called to change to honor the evolutionary pulse of life guiding us forward? What new beginning is emerging?

Cosmic Weather

The Moon is conjunct Saturn and square the North Node, Uranus, Mars conjunction. The moon’s alignment with Saturn indicates karmic truths and consequences coming to light and bottom-line realities that wake us up to new choices. Saturn reminds us that we are in a process of maturing and unfolding. We need to be very responsible. Not just in matters of our own personal responsibilities, but the greater role that we play in society. Saturn aids our rise to sovereignty to achieve our Aquarian vision and rise to meet our destiny.

“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

George Orwell

The moon is in harmony with the asteroids Shiva and Apollo. Shiva is conjunct the Moon and Apollo is conjunct the Sun. Shiva is the Hindu God who symbolizes the destroyer of ignorance. Shiva supports us awakening from our comfort zone and any ways that we have given shadow allegiance to a belief or way of life that is not in alignment. We open now to see past the illusion and embrace truth. Apollo was an Olympian deity who was associated with the sun and light, music and poetry, healing and plagues, prophecy and knowledge, archery, and agriculture. As a sun god, Apollo, reminds us of the light that is our medicine to the collective. We are to protect and embrace our light. The shadow side here is that we also need to embrace all the aspects of ourselves and we might now see ourselves fully.

The Invitation

This full moon guides us into the shadow of all the emotions that we have repressed over time. Be present with what emerges. Be gentle with your process. This is an important time to tend to our nervous systems and allow time for us to feel and deeply listen to our inner guidance. We have bought into the illusion that we separate from all other life. We awaken to a new understanding of our place in the collective. We release our complicity and toxic collective beliefs to make space for our own new revolutionary ideas and the courage to forage ahead. In order to create and implement the needed solutions for our evolution, we need to cultivate both connected individualism and the vulnerability and support of working in community. We are invited to rise to a new level of our sovereignty and practice knowing when to use our power and when we can also open to receive support from our community. None of the great visionaries have carried out their ideas alone.
