Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: Cosmic Audit

The full moon at 12°53’ of Virgo on March 3rd (4:37 a.m. MDT) is a total lunar eclipse. We are asked to release the ways we have been holding things together so we can bring our skills and our hearts to new levels of service.

We take an honest look at our routines and the expectations we set for ourselves so that we can root into practices that are not only compassionate and efficient, but also allow us to prioritize our well-being.

Eclipses are portals for karmic content.

They are catalysts for our growth and transformation.

During a lunar eclipse, the full moon dims and darkens as it passes beneath the Earth’s shadow, triggering emotional responses and raising awareness of unconscious patterns and fears.

What has been buried emerges now in order to be witnessed, liberated, and integrated.

This total lunar eclipse will be visible, at least in part, from most of the Americas, and parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica.

This is the final eclipse in an 18-month cycle working with the Pisces/Virgo axis, bringing an intense period to an end and marking a clear shift in tone.

This eclipse is aligned with the south node in Virgo, which highlights letting go of habits and structures that no longer support our growth. We step of our comfort zones to create a new structure that supports our evolution.

South node eclipses illuminate what is left behind. This cosmic moment guides us to not only slow down and look at what it is we are holding, but to also pause and reflect on why.

Virgo is associated with pragmatic integration, rational analysis, and refinement. Through attention and attentiveness, this archetype brings presence to the details and the task at hand. Virgo is adept at reading patterns and shows us the step-by-step process of how we move through a routine. They also prioritize effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy in how they think, act, and serve.

“We don’t have to be everything. We don’t have to know everything. We don’t have to do everything. There is space for the unknown. There is space for curiosity and mystery.”

Tricia Hersey

This eclipse elucidates our relationship to our patterns. What is dissolving is the pattern itself that was created from an old way of being. Whatever is left over from the old paradigm must go. What can no longer be brought forward? What patterns are holding us back? Where are we lacking the structure and flow needed to thrive? What beliefs are keeping us in a perpetual state of self-management? What needs to be completed before we can step into the new architecture?

Eclipse cycles occur every 19 years. The last time there was a lunar eclipse in this degree of Virgo was on March 03, 2007. Looking back to that time, what themes were emerging? What was being restructured? What new routines were implemented that are now paying off? What was our relationship to self-care?

Living by Our Honor Code

Virgo at its true essence is the role of the sacred healer, offering a holistic perspective, refinement, and wholeness. Humility is a signature trait associated with Virgo energy. This archetype seeks to fulfill their duties with effort and integrity, often working behind the scenes to ensure things are done with quality and care versus seeking accolades. Virgo teaches us about the power of discernment—to trust our gut instincts and intuitively listen to the truth that is deep within. This cycle guides us inward to listen to our veracity, to practice good judgement in connecting with our wisdom, and to live our own honor code and know what our values are.

“On this sacred path of Radical Acceptance, rather than striving for perfection, we discover how to love ourselves into wholeness.”

Steward of Our Health

As we go through cycles of both personal and collective changes, there will be periods where things will be unknown, and we are asked to trust in the unfolding of the process. During these times, it is essential to practice self-care. This may require releasing the pressure that we put on ourselves to get everything done, freeing ourselves from our own high expectations, and letting go of guilt if we need to rest. Patterns that are not healthy for us may become more apparent at this time, bringing in some needed order to support us.

In the shadow expression, Virgo can worry and hold stress in a way that can be detrimental to their health. How do we balance rest and self-care along with all our other responsibilities? It may feel like we are juggling a lot right now or witnessing others who are. This cycle is an invitation to bring a comprehensive approach to our health. We examine what needs to be brought to order and what requires more presence, compassion, and attention to create balance.

Our health is ours to steward. This cycle offers a needed recalibration to bring our attention to what needs to be cleaned up and cleaned out. To promote our well-being, we should now prioritize our self-care routines and build complete systems that allow us to foster the shift we are experiencing.

“Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.”

Etty Hillesum

The Invitation

This lunar eclipse is a cosmic audit. The patterns that are no longer sustainable are revealed so that we may align from a place of honoring ourselves. We notice where in our lives we are not using our skills and service to the best of our abilities. We bring an overall view to what needs to be tended to, developed, and integrated. We devote ourselves to new routines and strategies that nourish our lives and support who we are becoming.

What is illuminated is clarifying, offering insights on what is inefficient, unhealthy, or out of alignment so that we can step into a more intentional rhythm. We are invited refine our spiritual practices, without losing our connection or sense of compassion.
