Tomorrow marks the peak of one of 2022’s most significant transits, the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction in Pisces. For the first time in more than 166 years, Jupiter, the planet of divine potential, will align with mystical Neptune in the sign of Pisces. This conjunction occurs in 23 ‘58 degrees of Pisces on April 12th at 9:42 a.m. CDT. This aspect began to build on March 18th and will remain strong until May 9th. This marks the start of a new 12-year spiritual growth cycle. Our imagination, creative inspiration, depth of compassion, and purification are amplified. We meet the moment of collective and personal spiritual rebirth. As one dream dissolves another starts to take form.
Jupiter and Neptune conjoin approximately every 12-15 years. The last time was in May of 2009 at 26 degrees Aquarius. The next conjunction will be in the sign of Aries in 2035.
Even though Jupiter aligns with Pisces roughly every 12 years, Neptune takes 165 years to go around the zodiac. This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence as the next conjunction of Jupiter-Neptune in Pisces is 2188. Jupiter is the ancient ruling planet of Pisces, and Neptune is the modern ruler in Pisces. To have this alignment in the sign of both planets’ rulers adds celestial magic and magnetism.
We Connect to Our Psychic Abilities
Jupiter activates the capacity to see what we ultimately could be. Through Jupiter, we connect to the bigger vision of our soul’s ultimate potential and we explore our inner and outer world. Jupiter offers growth, optimism, faith, and confidence, with a vision that recognizes the interconnection of the divine purpose and bigger picture.
Neptune is associated with the collective unconscious, illusion, spiritual insight, confusion, and addictions. Neptune activates psychic sensitivity and feeling through our psychic senses. Neptune holds the power of hope and the imagination but also fantasy and disillusionment. Imagination can inform and intuitively guide reality. For example, Sir Isaac Newton watched an apple fall from a tree above his head, but it was his imagination that inspired him to formulate Newton’s laws of motion. Generally speaking a fantasy is a product of the imagination but is often far away from reality. This conjunction will highlight the duality between imagination and fantasy and where we choose to believe a fantasy story versus cultivating faith in the unknown and being present with uncertainty.
While Jupiter expands, Neptune dissolves. Neptune’s symbolism represents a wide range of emotions, from euphoria to sorrow, and its forms can be either amplifying or depleting. In its highest expression there is a feeling of returning home at the highest soul level, and serendipity presents to us a long-held dream that supports our path of divine service.
Jupiter also magnifies what is in the way of our biggest growth. It can focus on where we need to expand our faith, confidence, and capability. In the sign of Pisces, Jupiter activates our emotional perception, psychic hunches, and intuitive feeling. We may feel the amplification of our psychic gifts. It also may intensify our resistance and what blocks us from our innate psychic abilities in order for us to expand and grow deeper into our gifts.
This Conjunction Activates a Collective Turning Point
This divine meeting speaks to what is being activated both personally and collectively. Jupiter and Neptune align once every 12-15 years. When they connect, they activate a collective turning point.
Neptune is the planet of disillusionment that dissolves borders and structural limitations to allow for greater equality, and it activates an expansion of one world consciousness. To truly allow for spiritual transformation to happen we are asked to embody one world consciousness. We are asked to dissolve the borders between us to connect as one humanity. When we feel and honor the humanity in another we naturally understand and advocate for their equality. Throughout history Neptune has been associated with dissolving structures of the old paradigm to open to equality. Neptune is associated with the abolitionist movement that brought an end to slavery and the suffrage movement that fought for women’s right to vote.
The Jupiter and Neptune alignment in Aquarius in 2009 birthed social media and expanded how we connect to each other. The borders dissolved in ways that allowed us to reach out and connect with each other quickly, aligning vision, innovation, and technology (Aquarius) with one world consciousness (Neptune) and expanding us into greater potential (Jupiter).
The Crimean War ended in 1856, a month before Neptune and Jupiter’s last conjunction in Pisces was exact, and the Treaty of Paris was signed soon afterward. France, the Ottoman Empire, the United Kingdom, and Piedmont-Sardinia joined together as allies to oppose the Russian Empire. There is an interesting similarity between that time in history and the current war between Russia and the Ukraine.
With this combination in Pisces, we are being asked to dissolve the borders between us, deepen our relationship to compassion, and engage our mystical heart. What do we need to heal within us to live from this place? How might we align to be the answer to humanity’s prayer?
Embodiment of Divine Love
This conjunction asks us to rise up to embody divine love. This requires us to open to a higher octave of love moving through us that operates from personal esteem, self connection, and connection to our guides. Love guides us as we choose who to give to and how to follow the mystical call.
We are asked to dissolve borders of separation within ourselves and old narratives that tell us that we don’t need others or that we aren’t worthy of love. Humans need other humans. We need to receive love and be witnessed. We need connection, presence, and love to anchor us through dark night cycles, crises, and transitions. This conjunction is a needed wake up call to practice compassion daily and realize that the medicine, the only way through, is connection through our hearts. We function better when our heart center and spiritual approaches are rooted in interconnectedness and love. This is how we will develop and grow as spiritually mature adults over the next 12 years.
“Love and compassion are necessities not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.”
Dalai Lama XIV
A Renewal of Faith
We are asked through this cycle to explore our relationship to faith. It can be hard to have faith when there is so much intensity, war, and heartbreak in the world. We may find ourselves searching to connect to faith. We may feel inspired to move in a new spiritual direction. We may feel a connection to a higher purpose and spiritual meaning. We are asked to bring order to the chaos and heaviness through connecting to a deeper meaning within us.
The Heart Breaks so It Can Open Wider
This Neptune-Jupiter conjunction invites us to be present with our heart. We are asked to bring more conscious awareness to the ways in which we numb ourselves to avoid feeling. We need to be honest about what we feel, which may require us to acknowledge pain, grief, or heartache. This is an important time to address past disappointments and bring compassion and acceptance to them. The shadow of Pisces is looking at life through rose-colored glasses and high idealism that doesn’t want to face the pain. Through a presence practice we reach new depth and understanding that informs us about what our soul is truly longing for. The heart breaks so that we can deepen in compassion and empathy for humanity. Often our greatest growth and wisdom comes through dark night cycles. We can find common ground with others if we connect through our hearts and share the basic human experiences of love, longing, and loss.
We may need to acknowledge the deeper human need to be loved. Pisces in its highest expression is the mystical lover. This transit offers insight into how to embody the mystical lover and be a channel of grace through offering a healing presence and holding the container for a higher altitude of love.
An Invitation to Go Within
The best way to work with the alchemy of this Neptune-Jupiter transit energy is to go within. Practices such as meditation, dreamwork, deep listening, and prayer are powerful tools to nurture our Source connection. We are invited to let go of the distractions of the outside world and be present with the still, intuitive voice within us. Synchronicity speaks through this cycle and offers new understanding to help us explore the depth of who we really are and how we wish to express divine love in the world.
“I once had a thousand desires,
But in my one desire to know you
all else melted away.
The pure essence of your being
has taken over my heart and soul.
Now there is no second or third,
only the sound of your sweet cry.
Through your grace I have found
a treasure within myself.
I have found the truth of the Unseen world.
I have come upon the eternal ecstasy.
I have gone beyond the ravages of time.
I have become one with you!
Now my heart sings,
‘I am the soul of the world.”
