On February 5th at 12:28 p.m. CST, the Sun in Aquarius opposes the moon in 16 °41′ Leo igniting a full moon cycle. This cycle evokes big emotions and fiery sparks with great potential for seismic breakthroughs.
This is the 5th full moon in a row of 7 in 16° of its sign. Those who have planets or angles near 16 degrees in the fixed signs may experience the activations of these archetypal energies more fully.
This is the final full moon while Saturn remains in the sign of Aquarius and acts to integrate the wisdom from this cycle. With Saturn now in the final degrees of Aquarius, there may be a more serious undertone to the energies of this full moon. We reflect on lessons we’ve learned over the past three years while Saturn has been in this fixed Air sign. This lunation illuminates our reality, revealing limitations and responsibilities so we may clarify our vision and commit to what we wish to build for our future. Saturn will leave the sign of Aquarius and enter Pisces on the next full moon on March 7th, 2023.
Leo – Aquarius Polarity
Leo represents our passion, creativity and ability to live from the heart. Aquarius, on the other hand, corresponds to our unique vision and approach to life. Leo relates to the creative spark from a place of self-expression, whereas Aquarius relates to the creative spark from a place of group expression. Leo creativity comes from a personal need to express, and Aquarius creativity comes from the collective need to offer innovative solutions for humanity. When we step into our unique light and full self-expression, we activate more of our potential and gifts for society and the whole ecosystem. We must work to understand and identify our personal needs vs. the needs of the collective, making space to honor both.
At an extreme, Leo may tend to focus on the self to the point of narcissism, while Aquarius may become elitist, causing disconnection from humanity. To prevent this and to foster self-expression, we must therefore learn to integrate both sides of the polarity equally. In healthy self-expression, one which engages humanity while standing in their uniqueness in serving the collective, harmony and balance exists.
Leo reminds us to come into the present moment and follow our desires to express and create. When expressed optimally, Leo leads from the heart and moves with inspiration to continue to develop and express that which is meant to inspire and serve the higher vision of Aquarius. To collaborate and find support with others of similar values with must pursue our passions with abandon. This full moon connects us to our sacred vision and a sense of the new paradigms we are moving into. For our soul gift to evolve, we need to risk visibility and understand the higher purpose of our mission and the needs of the collective.
“Live your life from your heart. Share from your heart. And your story will touch and heal people’s souls.”
Melody Beattie

Leo as an Archetype
As an archetype, Leo is a wise, generous ruler that radiates benevolence to all sentient beings. Leo is connected to our creative expression and is a living legacy of our unique creative signature that serves the collective and persists long after our reign. Leo represents the flow of warmth that ignites to spark in others when genuinely living from the heart.
Leo is a fixed fire sign that grounds into the self to creatively express. Through embodying our uniqueness and radiating our light, we inspire and ignite the light within others to shine.
Leo energy connects to childhood imagery, playfulness and the ability to see the world with a sense of awe and wonder. To know ourselves before we were conditioned, to follow our creative nudges with full permission and without apology, embodies this energy.
Leo is connected to the archetype of the Divine Child that is awakening to itself as a unique expression of the divine while simultaneously opening to become an instrument of the divine. In its highest expression, Leo understands its role as a co-creator and works in partnership with spirit to use their gifts for a higher purpose. It understands that all creative ideas are channeled from the divine. Leo reminds us of our role as conscious co-creator and tapping into our divinity.
Leo represents the innate need for individuals to freely express, shine brightly and be creative in their unique way. The shadow of Leo is when we become self-centered and draw emphasis on the need to be seen and receive validation in specific roles that eclipse us from our hearts.

Being Present With What is Real
This full moon energy is an emotionally charged time where our instincts are heightened, and our responses may be heated and theatrical. This is a critical time to understand the underlying current of it all and share what is on our hearts. We may seek out those trusted souls who can hold space and witness our journey. We may prefer to express ourselves through a creative project. What arises may feel tender, and we must give ourselves what we need to feel and express what is real. It is a genuine human need to be seen and witnessed, and it can be very healing to feel seen or to give our presence and heart to something without needing anything in return. Allow spaciousness to be vulnerable, raw and real. This lunation invites us to create spaciousness for all parts of ourselves. Connect with those whom we trust and are emotionally honest. Share in a way that feels authentic.
A New Way to Shine
This full moon brings us into the constructs and limitations of our ego to access our creative power more. To broaden our perspective, we are asked to break from the confines of old patterns and those shadow allegiances to the Patriarchy that may evoke the feeling of envy, self-absorption and competitiveness. At times, we have been taught to remain separate and guarded to get ahead. We are now waking up from this illusion and modeling a new way to embody leadership and collaboration. We can shine brilliantly without taking others down. We can strip away the old programming used for gaining validation and learn to be seen for everything we are. We may be asked to learn to compromise when we feel driven for it to be our way. We may be guided to use our luminosity to inspire and empower others. We are moving into a new paradigm that celebrates our unique gifts and honors our individuality. We can trust that when it’s our time on stage, we will feel it in our bones and claim it authentically.
“Shine your light and make a positive impact on the world; there is nothing so honorable as helping improve the lives of others.”
Roy T. Bennett
This full moon asks us to reflect on how we show up in the world, become ourselves and embody our sovereignty. The most effective leaders understand people and how to bring out the best in others. We are called to lead by example and inspire others to step in their authentic expressions.
Cosmic Weather
The full moon squares Uranus in Taurus, generating a seismic disruption in our collective reality and emotional landscape. (It squares the Lunar Eclipse degree from Nov. 8th, 2022, in Taurus-Scorpio.) This Fixed sign T-square can bring about uncompromising forces and resistance to change. We meet the places where we have sought security, stability and sustenance and find cracks of instability in the fault lines. This moon highlights where we are fixed on ideas liberates us from what we are attached to and offers fresh perspectives and healthy detachment, enabling us to see clearly and adapt to necessary changes.
The moon’s trine to Chiron in Aries fosters an environment conducive to healing our insecurities. We can become more attuned to negative emotions and self-deprecating thoughts such as inadequacy from perceived shortfalls in accomplishment, an inability to assert ourselves to defend our position, advocate for our needs, or take action where we most desire. We are invited to make space for all of the fears and feelings to come into deeper self-acceptance.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson
Mars in Gemini forms a sextile with the full moon, which fuels our desires to act and discover creative answers to challenges. We are ready to connect and communicate our desires or step into an opportunity that comes our way.
Saturn opposes the full moon, guiding us to find the balance between our inner needs and our more extensive societal commitments and roles. We are invited to take more responsibility for what we’ve created and get honest with where we are to strategize our next steps supporting our long-term vision.
Kali is conjunct Uranus in Taurus and squares the full moon. Kali in this full moon chart invites us to see beyond our illusions and come into a deeper understanding of who we are and why we are here. It is a deep force of love that calls for you to embrace a new perspective to end suffering. We must look at where our ego limits and prevents us from our full expression so that we release our tight grip on security to deepen our relationship with the earth. Kali encourages us to embrace our wildness, make space for all we feel, and allow it to inform our spiritual mission.
The Invitation
This full moon shines a light on our childhood patterns and conditioning. We see where we resist change and the default pattern that manages our resistance so that we can let go of our tight grip on perceived security and reconnect with our next steps. The medicine is in tapping into our creative power and cultivating the courage to follow our hearts.
This lunation reminds us of what we are truly passionate about. We are invited back into our childlike nature. Who were we before conditioning? What guided our hearts? What lit us up? What are our heart’s desires? What would we create if we gave ourselves full permission? We are invited to tap freely into what longs to be expressed and be present to the world around us.
