New Moon in Pisces: Reclaiming Our Ability to Dream

The new moon in 20°17’ of Pisces on March 10th (4:00 a.m. CST) illuminates our compassionate spirit and awakens our ability to trust what is obscured.

This emotive energy connects us to what yearns to be felt so that it can be acknowledged, integrated or transmuted. We enter a period of deep introspection, reflecting on the cycle of our lives.

What no longer feels connected to our purpose and is draining our life force? What is ending? We are asked to bring our attention to these areas and offer them up to the divine to dissolve and change. By doing so, we have the potential to create space for our consciousness to orient us in the present time.

This new moon is the second of three supermoons in a row. Supermoons occur when the moon is closest to Earth, magnifying its impact on ocean tides, tectonic plates, and our emotional bodies.

This lunation also marks the beginning of the current lunar cycle and the end of the astrological year. As such, we attune to what needs to be released so that our path is clear.

When we match faith with strategy, it directs our focus to what truly inspires us and helps us to get practical about the work required to build our dreams.

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”

Reclaiming Our Ability to Dream

This new moon activates our hope and belief in what is possible. We can sense more of the subtle energies beyond time and space to a place within that is eternal and always present. We are now invited to reclaim our ability to dream.

“Living by synchronicity isn’t merely about getting messages. It is about growing the poetic consciousness that allows us to taste and touch what rhymes and resonates in the world we inhabit, and how the world-behind-the-world reveals itself by fluttering the veils of our consensual reality.”

Robert Moss

We are also being asked to think beyond our conditioning and the systems that keep us in perpetual motion—disembodied and disconnected from our spiritual essence.

When we remember who we are beyond our regular points of reference we can reacquaint and align with our soul essence. Before we understood ourselves through the physical dimension, there was a deeper knowing encoded in our soul. It’s also important to remember that the realization of our true nature is often discovered through recognizing what we are not.

We are entering into a process of dissolving the ego’s old identities and desires in order to access a fuller understanding of our divinity and how we might expand ourselves through our role in humanity.

We awaken to our ability to co-create with spirit, drawing inspiration into form.

“Humility is our greatest strength. If we can let the garments of the ego fall, we can see ourselves more fully and recognize what’s lasting.”

Let It Be

Pisces is the sign associated with empathy, compassion and unity. This archetype reminds us that we are a part of something greater than ourselves. Pisces energy holds the knowing of unity, the desire to merge with the divine and honor the “all-is-one” mystical perception.

This susceptible, sensitive and empathic sign must learn to reconcile with everything that is happening in the world and to feel with their cosmic heart, not allowing themselves to take on the pain and suffering of humanity. When we become too overloaded with our psychic senses, we may lose our ability to empathize or deeply care about the larger community we are inextricably a part of. This is a necessary time to clarify what we need to project our peace, surrender what isn’t ours and tend to what nourishes us.

“Where do I overlook myself or refuse myself access to the resources, rest, regard, belonging, dignity, safety, joy, connection, pleasure, and peace that I seek to secure for those whom I serve?

James-Olivia Chu Hillman

Return to Love

Compassion is our most natural state. This cosmic weather guides us deeper into our spiritual knowing. We dissolve the barriers of separation so we can live more fully from our inherent connection to all things.

One powerful Pisces lesson is our ability to surrender rigid forms and embrace our ability to transmute. In its highest expression, Pisces embodies a peaceful and compassionate neutrality that allows everything to be as it is. This doesn’t mean becoming passive. Instead, it is transcending beyond the need to fix or rescue others, and allowing celestial love to flow directly where it wants to flow.

We find safety in our ability to change forms and renew our commitment to our true purpose. Through this process, we look through the lens of the soul to envision life through love’s eyes.

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

Rainer Maria Rilke

We Practice Radical Self-Care

When we release the linear way of being to step more fully into our power, we are then able to relinquish our outdated beliefs around rest. Early religious frameworks and past and present patriarchal systems glorified sacrificing our needs and the self for a higher good, which can cause guilt and shame around prioritizing self-care. We are asked to dissolve the spell cast through the lens of patriarchy and capitalism that has taught us to believe that our worthiness is based on our efforts, that exhaustion is normal and that being busy is some kind of status or badge to uphold.

This new moon aligns with the Asteroid Goddess Hygeia, motivating us to take proactive steps to nourish and support our well-being. This is an important time to remember the connection between spiritual and physical health and to find fulfillment through a devotion to serve humanity.

This lunation invites us to release old identities, beliefs and ways of being that do not recognize our divinity in human form. To do this, we must be willing to embrace our more unconventional nature—the part of ourselves that values active dreaming, intuitive knowing, source connection and restoration as sacred and vital practices.

This cosmic weather invites us to deepen our spiritual maturity, practice discernment and recognize our revered responsibility. We are also invited to determine what isn’t our responsibility. Our self-care practices, healing and activism tools require our understanding and dedication.

“Our drive and obsession to always be in a state of ‘productivity’ leads us to the path of exhaustion, guilt, and shame. We falsely believe we are not doing enough and that we must always be guiding our lives toward more labor. The distinction that must be repeated as many times as necessary is this: We are not resting to be productive. We are resting simply because it is our divine right to do so.”

The Invitation

We live in a time of collective shifts and are beginning to understand our mystical connection to all of life and our role as conscious cocreators. We are evolving from a culture of doing to the embodied presence of being. We bring awareness now to what is changing; we allow and align with what we want to create in the next chapter of our lives.

This lunation invites us to trust in our ability to navigate unknown cycles and to have faith in a deific intelligence that guides our path. We are asked to reframe old ideas of renewal and prioritize our self-care, tending to our vitality and our ability to dream, as they are essential and necessary to sustain us forward.

Pisces energy has the incredible ability to imagine what is truly possible and to believe that the light will return even after the darkest night. We need these beautiful, heartfelt souls to hold the hope and possibility when we can’t see forward. Cherish those in your life who continue to pour their heart and their light into sacred work. We can work in community to return to our hearts and be guided with the light. We need each other to imagine a new world and tend to this dream.
