Full Moon in Virgo: The Mystical in the Mundane

The full moon in 5.5° of Virgo on Thursday, February 24th (6:30 a.m. CST) illuminates where we need to heal. We access our energetic field to be intuitively guided to what most needs our love and attention.

Grace enters through our pure intentions, acts of kindness and heartfelt soul prayers.

As we deepen into new levels of self-worth, that which has been built from our old self no longer makes the cut and is asked now to be released.

This cosmic weather calls us to get more organized and grounded so that we can move through our day-to-day lives more effectively, but it also reminds us to take time to tend to what is sacred and open to the magic that synchronicity offers.

By cultivating presence and compassion, we are able to mend and release, connecting to new pathways and a new start. What was brought into our awareness through the last full moon cycle we now integrate and implement.

This particular full moon corresponds to the new moon in Virgo on August 27th, 2022.

Over the past 18 months, we have been developing our path of service and how we care for ourselves. Thinking back to that time, what themes were arising? What have you learned through how you care for yourself? What has come together that has worked well, and what seems to still be in disarray? What is required to bring needed structure and order?

Time for a Reality Check

We may experience it as course correction, establishing boundaries or becoming extremely aware of our limitations in a particular area of our lives. Our power is in our ability to turn towards discomfort, recognize the chance to learn and choose how to respond.

“Our boundaries define our personal space—and we need to be sovereign there in order to be able to step into our full power and potential.”

Jessica Moore

This is a necessary time to be open to receiving constructive feedback and assess situations for what they are. We have a powerful opportunity to redirect our attention and move toward needed improvements. This may feel like a crossroads, or it may appear as a challenging conversation or a tough choice we need to make. It is vital to speak to what needs improvement in a clear, compassionate and effective way. When we offer criticism to others, we need to be aware that it can create tension and make our point harder to hear.

The Virgo/Pisces Polarity

Virgo rules our daily habits and routines that form the foundation for our overall health and well-being. This archetypal energy brings our attention to the details of our life that need to be organized, simplified and integrated. Virgo excels at incorporating the information we have at hand, refining our skills and looking at patterns holistically. Through this sign, we discover the divine is in the details, as well as how we care for others and tend our dharma.

Pisces is associated with empathy, compassion, faith and our connection to the divine. When we access this archetypal energy, we awaken to a deeper understanding of the connectedness that flows through all life. Pisces energy reminds us of what is sacred, guides us to lead from our intuition and to honor our time and way of being.

The axis of Virgo and Pisces teaches us about the importance of balancing the rational with our intuitive mind. When we rely solely on logistics, we may find ourselves ruminating, stuck or missing an essential component of what is truly aligned.

There can be a shadow side with this axis that bypasses reality. In Virgo we tend to hold onto an idealized form, because facing our flaws evokes pain. In Pisces, we are so devoted to the spiritual lens, that we may turn away from the development of a healthy and mature relationship to the physical realm. As both signs activate our service polarity, we can give too much of ourselves and may feel guilty in receiving money for our skills and talents.

What Do You Make Time For?

This lunation illuminates our patterns so that we can build toward more sustainable change. We reflect on how we spend our time. To truly understand what we value, we need to look at how we show up in our lives. What is working well and feels effortless? Where are we spinning our wheels? What are we most devoted to? What are we resisting because the pressure feels too big or because we fear failure? What matters more than we realize?

We reflect on what is required to feel nourished and devote ourselves to creating self-care routines that replenish and restore. How would we show up to our lives if we were well-rested? What choices would we make if we assessed our life decisions through the lens of self-regard? What if we understood that what was for our highest good was also the highest good for others? How could we impact the world if we had faith in our ability to be guided to those we could serve?

“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.”

M. Scott Peck

This full moon is an acknowledgment of how we desire to be of service and to determine what the next steps are for our sacred work. This is our time to assess the details in the patterns and structures that keep us from optimal potential and design new life strategies to move forward.

We Open to New Levels of Healing

Virgo is associated with sacred ritual, holistic systems and integrative medicine. Its planetary rulers, Mercury and Chiron, signify the study of practical knowledge to hone our talents and tap into our healing capacities. They seek sustainable change and commit to the day-to-day work required for powerful transformation. One of the best ways to show up for yourself is to be disciplined and consistent with your goals, and this is one way this archetype practices self-love.

In its shadow, Virgo learns through denial, neglecting what most needs their attention. Even though they may be adept in creating systems, tools and strategies for others, they tend to neglect their own self-care until they reach a moment of crisis that brings their attention back to creating order. Virgo can procrastinate or stay perpetually distracted with details in order to protect themselves from failing or receiving criticism. They can lose interest quickly when they start something new and realize they can’t do it perfectly, shying away from the mess of new learning.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

James Baldwin
This cycle can bring great awareness to the parts of ourselves that feel vulnerable. It is important that we are not too hard on ourselves and, as best we can, bring loving compassion into our reflections.

Immense healing arises when we meet our perceived flaws and limitations with acceptance and kindness. Virgo reminds us that we are enough just as we are.

There may be times when we feel we are not ready or able to be of service if we don’t have it all together ourselves. We may feel we have to hide parts of ourselves away until we are fixed or healed according to cultural expectations. We are asked to bring balance within ourselves, softening our edges and dedicating ourselves to improvement while still holding ourselves to a high standard.

What we seek to improve must be grounded in self-connection so that we are following our guidance from within. We need to be able to feel the difference between what is impeccable performance vs. perfectionism—remembering that perfectionism is often preoccupied with outside expectations and is motivated to avoid critique or criticism. This archetype teaches us that value is found in the effort, and we must learn to detach from the end result.

Virgo teaches us the importance of tending to our nervous system. Our body speaks to us through physical symptoms, informing us about what we need, and part of the healing of this cycle is surrendering to the truth of our health. Additionally, the more we can see our grounded reality, the more swiftly we can implement solutions.

This lunation offers vast healing potential and directs us to what we need to restore. We become aware of the subtle but specific changes that are required for us to show up more fully—first for ourselves and then to the world. We connect to where we have neglected our self-care and the organization we need in our lives. We reflect on and refine our spiritual principles, allowing our longing to be our guiding light. Through this process we can uncover new curative abilities or open to new developments of our recuperation and our sacred work. Transformation is achieved incrementally, not through one big step, but small, consistent ones.

The Invitation

This full moon marries the mystical with the mundane. We become better organized to create spaciousness for what feels nourishing to our soul. We reflect on what matters most and what is calling for our attention, creating new routines to help us implement the changes we require. We think comprehensively to consider our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

This is the time to both tend to our healing and also be willing to show up as we are with the intention to honor the wholeness that already exists inside us. We are being asked us to go within and listen deeply. What type of healing care do we need? Are we feeling burned out? Is it time to rest and restore and refill our own cup? Our ability to navigate and influence the world is intrinsically linked to our capacity to nurture and sustain our own vitality.

“To love yourself right now, just as you are, is to give yourself heaven. Don’t wait until you die. If you wait, you die now. If you love, you live now.”

Alan Cohen

This cycle invites us to commune with our soul, and through reflection, dreamwork and deep conversations, we can replenish ourselves and uncover messages from our subconscious to process and heal. These spiritual practices offer powerful opportunities to examine our beliefs, integrate new learning and show up clearly for our sacred work.

This full moon clarifies and simplifies our perception, allowing us to see our goals more clearly and to rededicate ourselves to achieving them. We understand how we can best reclaim order in ourselves, and we’re able to reassess what we value and bring more of our self-worth to our reality.
