Cancer New Moon: Return to Our Essence

The new moon in 4°07’ of Cancer on June 25th (5:31 a.m. CDT) is a cosmic embrace. We find comfort and emotional security through inner connection.

This new moon is conjunct Jupiter, offering an auspicious beginning in our lives. Trust in what you are drawn to and where you are intuitively led to start again. We have the innate perception to follow synchronicity, see where opportunities are lining up, and meet the moment with presence and grace.

Jupiter in the sign of Cancer gifts us with emotional fulfillment, nurturing, and heart-led intentions. This cycle reminds us that truth growth begins from the inside out. We expand into deeper fulfillment through flowing with feeling and rooting into our selves.

The last time Jupiter was in Cancer was from June 25th, 2013, to July 16th, 2014. During that period, several Cancerian themes of Belonging, Home (the land we stand on), and emotional honesty were amplified. Thinking back to that time, what themes were activate for you? We begin a new 12 year cycle of expansion of emotional truth and intuitively sensing. This is an important time of re-defining home and nurturing our soul family.

Cancer is a cardinal water sign that encourages us to initiate the growth of our emotional body, our feelings, and our internal world.

This cycle reminds us to trust our instincts and allow our feelings to guide us forward. Our emotions are our inner compass. What arises now is here to be felt fully and to inform us about our next steps.

The seeds of this new moon will come to fruition with the full moon in Cancer on December 24, 2026. The next 18 months offer new experiences and new growth regarding our relationship to care and generosity and what we feel we have the capacity for.

“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival.”

Audre Lorde

Our True Essence

This lunation serves as a point of light calling us inward to come home to our essence and soul prayer.

True expansion derives from the space we create and the awareness that arises when we are rooted into our genuine nature. This type of growth births interior structures that are woven through threads of our soul alignment.

We listen deeply and reflect on the ways that we treat ourselves and connect to the soul nourishment that will sustain our path.

How would we show up in service to others if we felt loved, well-rested, and resourced? What might we be capable of if we implemented better practices and routines for sustainable growth? We work with what we have, cultivating the small details that build big dreams. We create different ways to care for ourselves and the world. We assess not only what is useful and sustaining, but also what we no longer need. We remember our power when we allow ourselves to feel fully and be guided from our intuitive knowing. We think holistically about what we require in order to feel valued. We come back home to our essence and move from there.

“Spiritual awakening is the art of remembering who we truly are and reclaiming our inner wisdom. It is a journey of coming home to ourselves and embracing the fullness of our being.”

Clarissa Pinkola Estes

We are being initiated into higher levels of emotional maturity. Not only are we being asked to claim what matters most in our hearts, but we are also asked to be willing to learn through restriction.

Sometimes we uncover blessings in the things that don’t work out. We are invited to get radically honest about any illusions that we have been upholding that were never really authentic to us. Though dreams can help us connect to what we want, they can also become a distraction. We may feel the disappointment and grief of our past and the hope and excitement of new beginnings simultaneously. Our power comes in recognizing where we have been off track, coming to a better understanding of ourselves, and recognizing the work that returning home to our inherent nature actually requires. Through the process of releasing old beliefs and understanding our hidden motivations, we are guided into what we actually desire.

“Although you appear in earthly form, your essence is pure Consciousness. You are the fearless guardian of Divine Light. So come, return to the root of the root of your own soul.”

Rumi

Soul Connections

This cosmic weather supports the nurturing and deepening of our bonds with others. We seek to dive deep into our relationships and foster connections with those we feel most safe with. We may also be planting seeds for the authentic relationships and intimacy we are calling in. Who are the people in our lives that hold space for emotions and deep conversations? Who are the people in our lives that feel like home?

Redefining Caretaker

The archetype of Cancer represents our relationship to mothering, our emotional body, and what feels nourishing. This archetype asks us to reflect on how willing we are to be held and deeply attended to. As this sign is a powerful caretaker with the capacity to tune into what others require to feel safe, we must learn to prioritize our own self-care and balance what we give and take in our lives. When we put the needs of others before our own, we risk neglecting our own needs and care.

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”

Dalai Lama XIV

Through emotional regulation and self-reflection, we can learn to re-parent ourselves, provide sustenance and compassion, and gain more insight into ourselves and our foundational experiences, particularly those that influenced how we imprinted in relation to being nurtured.

As this sign is the bearer of life, Cancer represents fertility.

This new moon asks us to challenge our beliefs and redefine what it means to be a caretaker at this pivotal time of collective shifts and awakening. We are guided into our hearts to strengthen our bonds, recognize each other’s humanity, and deepen our ability to support others.

This lunation calls us move beyond polarization and to connect from the heart. Who would we be if we were a fully intuitive, emotional honest human being who deeply committed to caring? We understand that none of us are safe until all of us are safe. Where are we called to support those who are more vulnerable? Who do we need to become to protect what matters most to us? As we evolve into a more expanded idea of one-world consciousness, what is our role as a caretaker to humanity? How can be a caretaker to our community or soul family? How are we called to nurture and care for others and for the planet?

The Invitation

This lunation activates the theme of homecoming. We reflect on and redefine what it means to begin a new journey from our inner coordinates of home. We create the safety and security that we need now to re-parent ourselves with compassion and presence. We soften into our truest essence and create the spaciousness required to be resourced and restored. This type of homecoming is a reclamation of our spiritual selves and the power of our emotional body that feels like remembering the vibration that is in harmony with our soul. We expand our ability to witness our own core. We remember what we need to feel nourished and supported. We practice hope and faith as we tend to what we truly need.

“Faith is a place of mystery, where we find the courage to believe in what we cannot see and the strength to let go of our fear of uncertainty.”

Brené Brown
